Hello,

The other day I read a comment on Zoya’s Facebook page that had high praises for Neeka, Zoya. Basically, there hasn’t been a person who doesn’t like Neeka. I am not about to be that person because I, like many others absolutely LOVE it! Neeka is a nice, dark (but not really dark) purple with gold specs in it. It is really an amazing color that looks good on all skin tones. It only takes two coats for full coverage and it’s just awesome, nothing more to say! I decided to use It’s My Year by OPI on as an accent nail (on my ring fingers).

It’s My Year, is from OPI’s Miss Universe collection and it is a gorgeous maroon with gold sparkles. It is very similar to Faye, Zoya except it has a greater emphasis on the maroon than the gold. It’s My Year sparkles and looks amazing in the sun. Too bad it’s only on the 2 ring fingers. I am almost tempted (for my next manicure) to do all of my nails with It’s My Year because it is that amazing!

Without further adieu, here is Neeka, Zoya with It’s My Year, OPI on the ring fingers!

Hello friends,

So a few months ago my friend was browsing our local beauty shop and she scored a 50% off deal on the Serena Grand Slam OPI set that contains Grape, Set, Match and Servin’ Up Sparkle. She knew purple was my color so I told her I’d pay her back if she bought it for me, and she did! I was going to use it right away because I love purple and all things sparkly but I decided to wait a little while. Here we are a few months later and I finally use it and what can I say besides, ‘OMG it’s awesome!’

Grape, set, match is a nice royal purple that in the sun shimmer’s with specks of different colors, it’s very interesting/hard to describe. You just have to see for yourself. Servin’ Up Sparkle is a sheer silver sparkly polish with silver dots as well as silver hexagons.

In tennis love means nothing, but when I say I love this set it means everything. I absolutely love it because it has everything that I appreciate: purple and sparkles ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is Grape, Set, Match with Servin’ Up Sparkle on top! ENJOY ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello everybody!
I hope everyone’s doing well! Sorry I’ve been MIA…for some strange reason my camera wasn’tย lettingย me uploadย my pictures fromย the camera to my computer, butย the issue was resolved, thankfully!
So for my latest post I decided to use Harmonie by Zoya and sparkle it up with Hi-Res by Milani. Harmonie is a nice, bright purple that looks good on any skin tones. It is somewhat sheer, so 2-3 coats would be good to get it fully opaque. Hi-Res by Milani is a holographic purple glitter, there’s no other way to describe in than as purple, glittery awesomeness! ๐Ÿ™‚
I put one coat of Hi-Res on top of Harmonie, because that is all you need for it to be sparkly and shimmery in the sun!

Here is what it looks like, ENJOY!

Hi everybody,

I decided to use the first nail polish I received via swap. On Zoya’s Facebook page they have a discussion board that allows Pixies (Zoya fans) to trade their nail polish bottles with fellow pixies nation-wide. How it works is, you talk on the discussion board and let the pixies know what colors you are willing to trade and for which colors you’re willing to trade them for. I saw that someone had Savita up to trade and I knew I had to get it. It’s purple and it’s pretty…what more could I ask for? The finish on the bottle is matte velvet, which represents what the polish is. I’m not usually a matte fan, but I do like that it takes no time to dry and the matte look can easily be remedied with a top coat.

I used 2 coats of Savita and then Armor (Zoya’s top coat). I realized it was a bit streaky so I put a 3rd coat and then put Seche Vite Top Coat on top to make it EXTRA SHINY!

Here are my pictures of Savita, by itself first and then with top coat!

ENJOY!

A few months ago, I bought one of the NEON nail polishes from American Apparel.

I am not usually a fan of the bright/hi-lighter colors (i.e. neon green, yellow, etc.), so I picked the Neon Violet color. Compared to the other Neon colors the Violet one isn’t very bright and loud, which I like; it is just the perfect-looking bright fuchsia (without being too bright).

I’m not sure what it is about neon colors, but all my neon-based colors are all matte. The matte finish of the Neon Violet was disappointing, but at the same time it was nice because it dries faster.

I’m not matte’s biggest fan, but fortunately matte can be easily remedied with a top coat (A friend of mine let me borrow her Seche Vite [thanks!] and I love it).
To become fully opaque, you only really need 2 coat of Neon Violet, but I used 3.
I forgot one more thing, it’s not bothersome or anything, it’s just strange: the bottle appears more purple-based but when I painted my nails/took pictures it looks more pink-based.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times over, camera’s never do nail polish justice.

That being said, you have to buy this color to appreciate its true beauty. Other than the 2 minor issues, it’s a great color and I definitely recommend it.

Here’s what Neon Violet, American Apparel with Seche Vite Top Coat looks like:

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

The last time I posted a blog about a Zoya nail polish, I had mentioned Charla and Ivanka and how I got them for free in aย  Zoya promotion. That promotion basically was ‘get a bottle of Charla and Ivanka with your purchase.’ The purchase I made was a random, spur-of-the-moment decision. I went with Mikka, Zoya which appears to be a deep eggplant color; a color which I love. Once I received the bottle I was second guessing my decision.ย It wasn’t until I actually tried on Mikka that I was pleasantly surprised with how it looked. Itย provides full coverage with two coats,ย but I didย three because Iย  messed up the 2nd coat. It is a nice deep, eggplant purple that looks really nice on dark, tan skin tones. On lighter skin tones, I imagine Mikka would look more of a magenta/purple with more of a red undertone, but beautiful nonetheless. It also has a nice shimmer in the sun, which I really appreciate!

Here’s what Mikka, Zoya looks like on me:

Hello friends,

I decided to color my nails Planks A Lot from the Pirates of the Caribbean OPI collection because I had my dad choose a color (on Father’s Day), and he said purple.

I went with Planks A Lot, which looks like any other lilac in the bottle, but I wanted to give it a chance to be different. Let’s just say that I am 2/2 with the POTC nail polishes I have (previously did Mermaid’s Tears, aqua marine).

Planks A Lot isย  more of a violet and it’s a darker purple than most lavenders and it took 3 coats to become opaque.ย  It is a really beautiful color, let me know if you agree!

I also used Essence’s Nail Art Express Dry Drops and they worked tremendously. I highly recommend them. They work and they are super cheap (I bought them at Ulta).

Here is “Planks A Lot,” OPI from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection!

Enjoy!

A few months ago I got a really good deal by getting around eight NYC nail polishes for a little over four dollars. The NYC brand had, or so I thought, greatly improved since the last time I bought that brand (many years ago). All of the colors I got this time were trendy and really nice colors and they all were named with a New York theme; of course I would love it.
I tried my first of those colors, Battery Park Purple and it isn’t even purple at all. It is a dark berry, wine color. The bottle appears to be more purple than it shows up on your nails.
It is a dark/fall color so it would look good on darker skin tones, but I am willing to bet the purple undertones would come out more on lighter skin tones.
In terms of the application of the polish, the brush is really thin, so it was impossible to get decent amounts of polish on the applicator. It meant I had to dunk the brush in the bottle more than a few times.

I wasn’t too pleased with the color, it was just a dark/wine that was nothing special. If you want a nice dark/wine berry go for Berry by American Apparel. (see one of my previous posts)

Since I wasn’t very happy with Battery Park Purple I decided to add China Glaze Crackle, lightning bolt (white) and I think it made my nails that much cooler!

Here is battery park purple under crackle glaze, lightning bolt:

My latest nail polishing consisted of Perplex, Revlon. When I first bought this color (a few months ago) it was “Hot off the runway,” but I decided to wait for the right time (not sure what makes it the right time), but nonetheless, a good time to use it!

Here we are in May of 2011 and I finally use it and let me just say that this is my favorite type of purple nail polish. It is a nice purple-grey (more on the purple side) with a nice pink-ish/iridescent shimmer. It looks really nice after 2 coats and it looks really nice on tan/dark skin tones. I’m not too sure how it would look on lighter skin tones, but you can Google images for Perplex, Revlon to get somewhat of an idea.

Here’s what it looks like:
